Spring Prep Part 1

As you have probably gathered by now, Joey and I are from a much warmer climate than New York. 80 degree days were the norm, and seasons tended to kind of do a mash up. Maybe a brisk two weeks would happen during Winter, or we would turn the air conditioning on extra cool for the Summers, but for the most part, temperature was constant.

Now that we have a combined living of 17 years in New York, you would think we would be use to the seasons, but no. We aren't. Not even close.

One thing we have done since we met, is celebrate Spring. We go to this tiny little park and welcome the geese and ducks back with bags of stale bread every single year. As new home owners we have some new traditions we will begin - mixed in with some old city living habits. How do you prep for Spring? Please tell us how you bring in the most brilliant season!

The most anticipated new ritual is defiantly gardening for us. We are so excited to start growing fruit, vegetables, and flowers! We have begun pre-planting in the garden room. We plan to freeze what we can and save for winter. You can download these nifty little freezer labels for free here, from Martha Stewart. The bulbs to blooms we got at Costoc, and the seeds we got at random markets.

Springs screams organization to us! We update our address books, replace desk calendars, and print out fun to do lists. You can download your own for free here, at A Print A Day. We were so excited yesterday when we came across some early growth in our front yard. We have no idea what's growing, but we are excited to find out!

How wonderful to have the space for a proper garden! Enjoy planting!

I prepare for Spring by stocking up on my white and yellow. My white jeans do come out before labor day :)
