Nothing Ill About It
Happy Monday! This weekend Joey and I enjoyed the not so terrible weather. We took the pups for a walk and worked on our ink-bloom project! We were so excited about the quality of the fabric after it was printed! We are even more excited to show you what we did and give someone their very own kit!
You may remember Jane from Ill Seen, Ill Said covered us in her segment Where We Blog From.
If you haven't popped over there yet, let me give you some reasons to! Jane writes fashion for Ready Made in Off the Rack. She runs an amazingly sweet and whimsy blog Ill Seen, Ill Said. Basically everything she touches online is brilliant, just check out her portfolio! There is no denying we have a bit of a crush. So slack a little this Monday and get to know Jane.
1. What's Your Name and URL: Jane Flanagan
Blog: www.seenandsaid.blogspot.com
Portfolio: www.janeflanagan.ca
2. When did you start blogging? What drove you in the direction home design?: I started blogging in March 2007. Although my blog includes home design, and fashion, I don't consider it a "pure" design blog. There's lots of personal stuff in there too. But, home design is a huge part of my personality. Perhaps that's because we moved a lot when I was growing up, so I was very exposed to hunting for real estate. On the flip side, it also meant I never took the idea of "home" for granted. It was always something I dreamed of creating for myself.
3. What has been your favorite post?: This home from World of Interiors (my favourite magazine ) was one that got under my skin a long time ago and I keep coming back to http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2010/02/old-favourite.html On a more personal level, I liked writing this post about blogging http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2010/01/poem-for-wednesday.html
4. Where do you go to for inspiration?: Blogs, shopping, magazines are the obvious answers. But, beyond that, I try to look to inward for my own style compass. Design is ultimately about self-expression for me rather than trends or over-styling.
5. Every home dweller should: slow down and be true to themselves. There are lots of lovely distracting things out there. It takes some reflection to understand what will work for your home and tell a story unique to you.
6. If you had unlimited funds you would buy .....the BDDW flower bed.....for your home
You can see other items on my ultimate wishlist here http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2009/11/ultimate-wishlist.html
7.Where would you buy a second home and why?: Probably in Co. Clare in Ireland, near the sea. It's my favourite part of the world (I grew up in Ireland and my family still reside there). I don't get home often enough and maybe a second home would help remedy that.
Second home for Jane? :)
8. What's your favorite piece of furniture in your home?: Happily, since I spend so much time at it, it's my desk. It's mid-century modern and I bought it at a local antique store. You can see a picture here: http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2008/08/new-desk.html
9. Your homes style is: Vintage-modern, industrial, highly personalized
10. Three words to describe your personal taste. : Simple, relaxed, warm

No such thing as Jane overload. I always love learnig more about, and from, the ever so unique Jane. I have to say, I love this line, "It takes some reflection to understand what will work for your home and tell a story that is unique to you." I need to put that brilliance into practice!
i adore Jane and her style! Especially her bookshelf.

It’s weird just how many different sites the internet has about this topic! I don’t know if I’m ever going to have to be back, but it’s nice to know I found the one that offers a little practical information if this ever comes up for me again
