Let's Talk Dirt(y) + Giveaway!
***This giveaway is now closed!***
Hello! How are you? I am jamming to The Verve Pipe - Freshman. I am also currently missing Joey at 4:37 am NYC time. This is the longest we will be apart from one another. It's been a totally gross level mush fest of love notes and text overload. You would think after seven years we would stop acting like teenagers, but no, we are totally besties. I wouldn't sleep until his plane landed, it's just how I roll. But you. I hope you are well. I hope you are sleeping. Or at least on some sort of normal schedule. In honor of Joey, and our passion picks, we have a super awesome giveaway for you today! Let's talk about the dirty a second.
So, as you may have read, our basement flooded along with some leaks in the ceiling. We lost quite a bit of laundry. Bye bye Dwell Studio duvet set. Bye bye Orla Kiley towels. Bye bye pretty clothes and sheets. It's been raining a lot in New York and the water table just couldn't handle it any more. So Joey filled up the shop vac 20+ times to save the basement. He had some questions if the Vac could be used in this fashion and thanks to this awesome Q & A, it was like someone was reading his mind and his questions were answered.
If you are wondering, yes. The Shop Vac can double as a water pump if your basement floods. Instant gratification at it's finest. Yay community knowledge!
Oh yes. The shop vac. You have saved us so many times. You have made Joey's workshop bearable. You have sucked up so much water and sawdust, I am surprised you are still living to tell the story. We love you. We want to share you with the world. If you don't have one, you need one. It's not a "sexy" tool, but it's been used so often, we deem it product we cant live without #5, to kick start our week of favorite tools giveaways.
Yep! This week, all week, we will be giving away a favorite item a day to kick start our season of giveaway! Thanks to a wonderful company, StackExchange.com, and their AMAZING Home Improvement vertical, they will be sponsoring all the loot!

My favorite tool would be a nice set of rubber gloves, because they help mejump in and not worryabout my hands.
My all time favorite tool, hands down, is my pneumatic upholstery gun. Without it I could not do all of the upholstery work that I enjoy!
My cordless drill! I get teased all the time! I love that thing and cant live without it. Im addicted to shelves and wall art so its a must for me!

My favorite tool is my palm sander. I can't imagine having to sand down all my furniture projects the old-fashioned way.
My Leatherman pocket tool. I've carried it for years and use it all the time! It definitely saves many a trip to the tool box. It's amazing how it makes things simpler and you're always finding new uses for it. It opens packages, trims boards, marks cut lines, tightens screws, removes slivers and the list goes on...
Glue guns fix everything!!!
Ramset. Any tool that takes a 22 cal to fire a nail through a stud and embed it in cement has to win the prize.
Honestly, it's the $14 grommet pliers I got this past Saturday! I made my own shower curtain and I couldn't have done it without these beauties. To make the curtain it seriously took me 10 minutes with this thing. New found love!
My favorite "tool" is the internet, mainly Google. I don't know it I'd even be a DIYer without it!
@MyCustomCookies is now following @StackDIY!
My favorite tool is my electric drill. I call it Mommy's Little Helper because it drills though anything including steel studs. Pure awesome.
We just used a miter (sp?) box to cut molding for our basement - what an awesome and super cheap tool!
LEVEL!!!!!!!!! Seriously, does it drive anyone else batty that things are not centered, not leveled, or in all sorts of disarray? I can't stand it so that is why it doesn't matter what the project, even if it doesn't require a level...I still carry a level! Call me crazy, but my stuff is always hung level! :)
My favorite tool is my iPhone. Not sure how I ever got by without it. I've also been relying a lot on my glue gun these days. This vaccume seems perfect for cleaning things that most household vaccumes can't quite handle!
Hot glue gun! We haven't invested in any big tools yet, but this one saves me all the time. Recently, the cats were practicing their agility through the window blinds... hot glue gun to the rescue!
My favorite tool is my sewing machine ... I love making things for our house!
@mrsthorndyke follows @StackDIY
My favorite tool is my screwdriver. I probably use it for much more than it was intended for, but it sure does come in handy often!
My Favorite tool...My camera!! your project is only as good as it looks through the eyes of a lens ( if you are ablogger) I have learned that the hard way ;)
My favorite tool is definitely a paint sprayer. It gets the job done so quick and even!!
I think I would have to say my cordless drill. It comes in handy alot around our house.
My Glue gun because you can fix most anything with one of those.
My power drill - my very first power tool and it's gotten us through our first baby steps of home improvement!
My favorite tool would be Clorox wipes cause they seem to clean everything up in my house
right now my fave tool is a crowbar- i know! totally not a "finesse" sort of tool. we just bought an old farmhouse and the crowbar has helped me tackle everything from removing old nails from plaster walls to prying up trim boards and removing cabinet doors whose hardware was covered with 70 years of paint (no screwdriver could touch it. crowbar for the win!). :o)
i would LOVE to add "shop vac" to my list of non-sexy fave tools. ;o)
