Easy Mirror Update + GIVEAWAY TIME!

*****Give-Away Alert! Keep reading to see how to enter to win $200 to spend at Mirror Mate!*****

Oh happy day lovlies! How was your weekend? Did the sun shine in your parts? We did a little Spring clean touching up, and had a little chilly BBQ and officially celebrated our two happy years of marriage. It was a nice weekend all around. We also snuck in a little project, with little time available- and it had big impact!

Our My closet is rather huge. We have three closets in our master bedroom, and to be honest, it's what sold the house. If you aren't familiar with homes in the northeast, that are over fifty years old, they rarely have adequate closet space. This house had beyond adequate closet space. Sold!

So this nursery-turned-closet had a rather large full length mirror, but it was pretty bland. It needed some....umph. So see what we did about it:

So this is our closet, which I can't complain about. With the exception of that boring mirror, you won't hear a peep of unhappiness out of me. We thought about replacing the whole thing, until we looked into the cost. Eesh. It was mighty expensive to get a custom size, with a frame we liked. We thought we were stuck, until we found Mirror Mate. We checked out the options and found one that fit in exactly with our Neutral-Moroccan-British-Cowboy themed bedroom build. Sold! Look how easy breasy it was to finish:

Read the instructions! Follow the instructions! They are simple to follow, and minus the hour wait time for the glue to dry, you'll be done in less than a half hour, no joke! Joey was super happy how easy the instructions were.

Not only are the instructions brief, the tools are minimal, and easy to use.

The most complicated part was folding these cardboard corners. Can you tell me love Mirror Mate? We are already scoping out where else we can use another one of these bad boys.

Use the tools to connect the corners after you use the wood glue. Those white strips (you'll see what they are for very soon) come pre-attached.

Place it off to the side, and wait an hour. The hardest part. Seriously.

We lined up the mirror, and used a level to see what it would look like.

Place the corners, once you get it perfect, then take the frame away.

Now the fun part! Peel the backing of the strip away. Then stick it on the mirror, keeping it aligned with the corners you previously placed.

This is us impressed how easy and quick the process was.

Ta Da! Isn't she perdy?!

Married: 2 years and counting...

On this day two years ago, Joey and I were in Las Vegas. We were super excited to be there with our folks + my bff. It was a split second decision we made. Two months before our wedding, we got married in Vegas. At a Howard Johnsons, with Elvis serenading us. And it was awesome.

Weird thing is, after we god married, everything felt the same. It was like we were already married and we just kinda filed the paperwork and went on with our day.

Our relationship has always been filled with signs. For example, we met on December 23rd, when Joey was 23 and got married on the 23rd of March. The number 23 seems to always pop up with us, so on this very day in Vegas it seemed only natural to play 23 at the roulette wheel. As luck would have it, that $25 chip turned into $875. How's that for luck?

So today is a very special day for us because it's like a secret in a way. Most people didn't know we were already married when they joined us in Jamaica for our wedding. It was like we got to live out two fantasy weddings. Two months later, we did this....

...and were lucky enough to have almost 100% of invites leave the country for a week and join us in a village, in Jamaica where we pretended we were at Summer camp.

It's crazy to think where you can end up with just a little fate and a vision. A lot has happened, even in two years. We unexpectedly bought this house, let our inner DIY escape , and are even starting a family this year. Our to-do list grows rapidly every single day. To be honest, I wouldn't trade it in for anything else in the world.

So today, cheers to Joey for being an incredible (and crafty!) husband. To making our house a home. And to growing old together in our beautiful home.

Five Things to do Right Now to Redesign Any Room for Almost FREE!

Happy Hump Day! Is it me, or is this week moving awfully fast? With Spring being all the buzz and Spring cleaning being on the top of everyones list, don't you think a little revampping is in order? I love opening windows and playing around with a room for a whole day. It's quite rewarding to get a whole new look and feel on the cheap! Here are some tips to get you started.

1.) Empty the room of everything small, and if you can handel it, the furniture too.

We bet you can't even guess what room this is!

Cleaning out a room completely will give you an instant new perspective as what the room could be. When filled with your things, it's hard to see the potential it's hiding. It's also a good chance to scope out if you really love your wall color, fan selection, and window dressing. When you bring the stuff back in your room, play with new layouts. Make sure not to block windows, and the sun really does something special to a room.

2.) Take home paint samples, and play with them!

We all know paint is the cheapest way to transform any room (furniture, floors, and fireplaces for that matter!). I don't know about you but I get excited when I am at the hardware store in the paint section. I am little a little kid collecting shiny new jewels every time I pass by the paint samples, and it's served me well. It's always good to have the samples on hand, but it's even better when you can envision them up on your wall. It's free. It's fun. And it will  motivate you to change things up!

3.) Make some art

We are FAR from artists in this house. I am not going to lie, I am a fine arts major switched to markeing because I had a professor tell me I was so bad at it. Dreadful, I know. So then, how do I make "art"? Easy! I don't need to be Picasso to make something pretty I love. We are big on shadow boxes, found object art, doily lamps, and photography in this house.

4.) Let the light in

Ohhhh. My fave. Sunshine all the time! Can you tell I'm a Florida girl? A sunfilled room is a glorious room as far as I am concearned. If you have small windows or big windoes, it doesn't matter - let the light in.

5.) Go shopping in  your other rooms

I love to shop. And I even have fun shopping in my own home. One thing I like to do is pull a bunch of stuff from a variety of rooms that hold a common feel or theme and use those things to decorate a whole room. It cuts the clutter down, and gives new life to already loved objects.

Pretty easy, right? We really do love "shopping" from our other rooms. It's probably our favorite thing to do when we don't feel like spending cash.
