Now, for more good stuff! Meet graphic designer, Ashley White. She has a knack for posting the most delicious bits of home decor on her blog, Decorology. Let her walk you through trends, unique finds, and brilliant collections.

1. What's Your Name and URL:

Ashley White, and the blog is called Decorology  decorology.blogspot.com

My professional site is ashleywhitedesign.com I’m a web designer.

2. When did you start blogging?: What drove you in the direction home design? I started blogging June 2008. I think I’ve always been interested in interior design.  I’ve been a chronic re-arranger my ever since I was a little kid.  For me, setting up my room was how I played.  That interest was brought back to life in 2007 when I signed a lease for a beautiful studio in a Brownstone.  I didn’t have the faintest idea how to make a studio feel like a home.  So online I went, discovered amazing design blogs, amazing ideas, and I was hooked! I’d been living in my studio for 8 months and was having so much fun turning it into a space that reflected my tastes, and I wanted to share that joy with everyone else and all the great design resources I’d found along the way.

3. What has been your favorite post?: I can’t think of a particular favorite, but I do have a favorite “style of post.”  I tend to like my posts on organizing ideas, especially for home offices, because they are usually ideas I can implement without spending any money, and best of all, they motivate me to work. Here’s an example http://decorology.blogspot.com/2009/09/gorgeous-home-office-and-organization.html

4. Where do you go to for inspiration?: Well, other design blogs were the original source of my inspiration, and I still turn to them a lot.  In fact, I even have a recurring post called “Favorite Images from my Favorite Blogs.”  Blogging is very time consuming and I found that I was looking at them less and less because I got so busy.  But the recurring post ensures that I stay up to date with the blogs that inspired me to do this in the first place.  Here’s an example of the post - http://decorology.blogspot.com/2010/02/brighten-up-your-monday-favorite-images.html

5. Every home dweller should: Treat your home with the same reverence you treat your body.  And if you don’t treat yourself well, you’ll likely never feel good in your own skin or your own home.  A great book to address the health of your home is the Apartment Therapy Eight-Step Home Cure.  It’s a quick and helpful way to get motivated to make your home everything you’ve dreamed of.

6. If you had unlimited funds you would buy :Well, first, I would buy a home!  I’m living with my parents right now as my boyfriend is teaching English in Spain, and I’m over there a few months out of the year and traveling a lot, and didn’t want to pay rent for an apartment I would only be in half the year.  But, hypothetically speaking, I would by some wonderful Scandinavian classics.  I love modern retro and the simple, smart design it embodies.

7.Where would you buy a second home and why?: Anywhere with warm summers and very mild winters.  Preferably a small city with boutiques and cafes; and where you don’t need a car.  Oh, and a 10 min. or less walk to the beach.  Any suggestions – I’ve been searching for such a place!

8. What's your favorite piece of furniture in your home?: Easy. My bed. I’m one of those people who need 9-10 hours of sleep.  This is from my past apartment.  I couldn’t live without my down comforter in the winter. It’s so warm and light.

9. Your homes style is: Oh jeez.  I’d say “simple feminine.”  I like softer colors, pretty patterns, and thoughtful details.  Here’s an image from another apartment I lived in – the Park Slope brownstone that inspired my love for decorating.

I loved the original floors and shutters in my parlor floor apartment

Nothing Ill About It

Happy Monday! This weekend Joey and I enjoyed the not so terrible weather. We took the pups for a walk and worked on our ink-bloom project! We were so excited about the quality of the fabric after it was printed! We are even more excited to show you what we did and give someone their very own kit!

You may remember Jane from Ill Seen, Ill Said covered us in her segment Where We Blog From.

If you haven't popped over there yet, let me give you some reasons to! Jane writes fashion for Ready Made in Off the Rack. She runs an amazingly sweet and whimsy blog Ill Seen, Ill Said. Basically everything she touches online is brilliant, just check out her portfolio! There is no denying we have a bit of a crush. So slack a little this Monday and get to know Jane.

1. What's Your Name and URL: Jane Flanagan

2. When did you start blogging? What drove you in the direction home design?:  I started blogging in March 2007. Although my blog includes home design, and fashion, I don't consider it a "pure" design blog. There's lots of personal stuff in there too. But, home design is a huge part of my personality. Perhaps that's because we moved a lot when I was growing up, so I was very exposed to hunting for real estate. On the flip side, it also meant I never took the idea of "home" for granted. It was always something I dreamed of creating for myself.

3. What has been your favorite post?:  This home from World of Interiors (my favourite magazine ) was one that got under my skin a long time ago and I keep coming back to http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2010/02/old-favourite.html On a more personal level, I liked writing this post about blogging http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2010/01/poem-for-wednesday.html

4. Where do you go to for inspiration?:  Blogs, shopping, magazines are the obvious answers. But, beyond that, I try to look to inward for my own style compass. Design is ultimately about self-expression for me rather than trends or over-styling.

5. Every home dweller should: slow down and be true to themselves. There are lots of lovely distracting things out there. It takes some reflection to understand what will work for your home and tell a story unique to you.

6. If you had unlimited funds you would buy .....the BDDW flower bed.....for your home

You can see other items on my ultimate wishlist here http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2009/11/ultimate-wishlist.html

7.Where would you buy a second home and why?:  Probably in Co. Clare in Ireland, near the sea. It's my favourite part of the world (I grew up in Ireland and my family still reside there). I don't get home often enough and maybe a second home would help remedy that.

Second home for Jane? :)

8. What's your favorite piece of furniture in your home?:  Happily, since I spend so much time at it, it's my desk. It's mid-century modern and I bought it at a local antique store. You can see a picture here: http://seenandsaid.blogspot.com/2008/08/new-desk.html

9. Your homes style is: Vintage-modern, industrial, highly personalized

10. Three words to describe your personal taste. : Simple, relaxed, warm
