This weekend was kinda weird, gloomy, gray one. Joey needed some new sneakers, so we went to the mall, something we rarely do. I hate going out in the rain. I hate the parking garage at the mall. I hate the crowds. However, I love to shop. I love it so much, I went with Joey to the mall to pick out some sneaker despite my eternal distain for all the things listed above.
We didn't find any sneakers, but we did find this...
It's not that we "found" it this weekend, it's that it found us. You may remember us drooling over the Kensington couch over at Restoration Hardware. It's on our 2011 to-do list. Well, this here table is the table that just so happens to be a perfect match for the 118" couch. This here table is 71". This here table will inspire us to buy that couch that makes us happy. This here table was on sale for $800 reduces from $1,900. This makes us happy, very happy! I will stop saying "this here" now. Promise.
We didn't expect to buy a coffee table this weekend. After all we just needed sneakers. And we just bought this....
It's a console table from Timothy Oulton, ya know the guy who designs a bunch of stuff for Restoration Hardware. The guy I am obsessed with. The guy who make furniture both Joey and I like. Love that guy. I found him at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC, on the second floor where he took out two spots to showcase his work.
Yea, we thought about buying that Union Jack couch, many many times. We decided however to go with that exact couch, just in a nice cigar leather. More dog/kid/us proof. Boy, I love to shop for home decor. It really makes me happy. But now our shopping has put us in a pickle. We are having another Joey vs. Lana moment.
Joey wants to add these chairs to the brown leather sofa + new balustrade salvage wood coffee table steal:
Right now we have these bad boys, which are just too oversized with the new couch....
So the question is this. These new chairs Joey wants - too manly? I am scared of our living room turning into a man cave. Right now I do not have a better suggestion to battle against these really cool airplane themed chairs, but I do think it's going to bring this room to the point of 100% masculine. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Joey won the chandelier battle, help me with this one ladies!

I think the chairs are awesome. I think they need to go in a billiards / cigar room though. Good Luck to both of you on your agreement. =)
@darlene i think they are awesome too! and i totally agree with the billiards/cigar room. i even suggested his office. he just kinda chuckled.
I just found your blog last week and am creepily obsessed with you...FYI. I have been drooling over those aviator chairs forEVER and even made a little Polyvore nursery inspiration board using one. I think it's a matter of how you style it - your room will definitely look masculine if you have a brown leather couch and the chairs. So you could either bring in feminine touches elsewhere (flowers, fluffy blankets, some pretty throw pillows on the couch), OR you could consider getting the couch in a different color/material. Like, you could keep it leather, but maybe go with a soft gray? Or navy? I'm just spit-ballin' here...I think you'll be fine however you end up. I'm just jealous you have a hubby who isn't cheap about furniture. It's like pulling teeth to get my man to agree to buy something spendy, even though we can afford it. Harrumph.
@wiggs...in the words of zoe, i die! i checked out your baby boy mood board and am in.total.love. i am demanding a boy out of joey so maybe i can convince him to have that chair in there. thanks for the creepy obsession, i am currently returning the favor on wiggs's modern life. congrats on the book. i will also continue my obsession by reading it.<3
i gotta agree that the chairs are very masculine. would be great in a billards room/man cave as suggested, or an office. so jealous of the humongo couch, btw. can't wait to see the room come together! good luck.
@justine so happy to have the ladies on my side this time :) we can't wait to see the room come together ourselves!
My husband's company recently bought a set of that exact chair for their front reception area. Kind of cool looking, but comfortable, no. I do not enjoy sitting in them at all. Just a thought. . .

@rachel - another point for the laaaaaaadies! the living room requires cozy!
I agree... this are a bit too manly for me... I need to be able to get cozy and read a book!
The chairs are wicked awesome though!!
@amy yea, thats the battle! love the chairs, and have no place to put them umph. well at least i know im going to win this round! thanks for the input!
I love the look of those chairs but I have to agree, I think it would make the room look too masculine. They're very modern looking and I can picture them in an airy loft or studio but not really in a traditional home.
@melinda thanks so much for your thoughts. it seems we must find new chairs to fill the space! xo
