Sofa Sourcing

Ahhhh....sofa's. A touchy subject around here. Our house is a traditional tutor and we have respected that, for the most part. We always pictures getting a big 'ol chesterfield couch, but that doesn't mean I haven't been day dreaming of something more....fun.

                  blue tufted couch

This blue belle is a perfect combo of Joey and myself. I hope we can find it in reality. Searching online is all well and good for pictures, but this specific one has been hard to come by. Oh soft and cozy-non-frumpy-couch, come to mama.

This Restoration Hardware staple has been another one we agree on, but I worry about puppies and future babies smearing unthinkables on this linen covered masterpiece. We have matching wingbacks and that can get a little dull and matchy-matchy, but I still think she's worth looking at.

This extra long bad boy is also from Restoration Hardware and is the one we agree on for sensible reasons. It's baby and pet friendly. It's deep and cozy, and it works with the over all voice of the house.

bird couch

Now this pretty Anthropologie piece is not a main couch by any streatch, but how pretty are those birds on the fabric of this couch? Swoon!

 chevron couch

There is just something about this couch that gets my wheels turning! It's like Ikat meetc chevron with doily details. How sweet? Joey wouldn't go for it. But, remember, I am dreaming.

I love to Shop + Winner for the Stencil Giveaway

"Thank you" to everyone who entered our awesome give away from Cutting Edge Stencils! We selected a winner, and that winner is Tashma! She selected the Dahlia Allover Stencil - be sure to send us photos of what you did what that beautiful stencil! If you didn't win this give away, don't fear dear friend, we will have plenty more to come. And if you totally fell in love with stencils like we did, keep checking back at MAHAH - we are going to have more stencil fun in our (near) future!

This weekend was kinda weird, gloomy, gray one. Joey needed some new sneakers, so we went to the mall, something we rarely do. I hate going out in the rain. I hate the parking garage at the mall. I hate the crowds. However, I love to shop. I love it so much, I went with Joey to the mall to pick out some sneaker despite my eternal distain for all the things listed above.

We didn't find any sneakers, but we did find this...

It's not that we "found" it this weekend, it's that it found us. You may remember us drooling over the Kensington couch over at Restoration Hardware. It's on our 2011 to-do list. Well, this here table is the table that just so happens to be a perfect match for the 118" couch. This here table is 71". This here table will inspire us to buy that couch that makes us happy. This here table was on sale for $800 reduces from $1,900. This makes us happy, very happy! I will stop saying "this here" now. Promise.

We didn't expect to buy a coffee table this weekend. After all we just needed sneakers. And we just bought this....

It's a console table from Timothy Oulton, ya know the guy who designs a bunch of stuff for Restoration Hardware. The guy I am obsessed with. The guy who make furniture both Joey and I like. Love that guy. I found him at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC, on the second floor where he took out two spots to showcase his work.

Yea, we thought about buying that Union Jack couch, many many times. We decided however to go with that exact couch, just in a nice cigar leather. More dog/kid/us proof. Boy, I love to shop for home decor. It really makes me happy. But now our shopping has put us in a pickle. We are having another Joey vs. Lana moment.

Joey wants to add these chairs to the brown leather sofa + new balustrade salvage wood coffee table steal:

Right now we have these bad boys, which are just too oversized with the new couch....

So the question is this. These new chairs Joey wants - too manly? I am scared of our living room turning into a man cave. Right now I do not have a better suggestion to battle against these really cool airplane themed chairs, but I do think it's going to bring this room to the point of 100% masculine. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Joey won the chandelier battle, help me with this one ladies!

Dressing Windows Aint Cheap

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Hello pretty people. We have been kinda jumpping around the house trying to focus on "fixing" the "little things" that keep us up at night. A while back we preached about the importance of window coverings in the winter to keep down the cost of heat. It took us a while to find just the right curtains, and boy were they more pricey than we anticipated. As you can see below, we really needed to dress the puppies up. Besides heating bills which cost more than my old rent in Brooklyn, these windows were looking pretty sad.

Told ya! Our living room is rather large and came painted in this kinda yellow tone, which gives it a bit of a Mediterranean vibe. Not exactly what we are going for, but we have been living with it a little over a year now. Can't quite nail down a color. And you know us, we take forever and a day to make a decision. We have picked out a couch (and *really* hope to buy it right after we get a new car), bought two massive matching gray chairs, and have a temp coffee table we kinda dig. The challenge here is - ready? - mixing grays with sandy colors, without being "beige". Our first step is these here curtains....

We got them at trusty 'ol Restoration Hardware, and we kinda had sticker shock at the register. We really liked the weight, color, and style of these and looked around if we could find something similar, but we didn't. Hence we wound up with exactly what we want and pray one day it will come back to us in the form of lower gas bills through the years.

Now you may notice they look a wee bit flat. Take note dear reader, our tie backs will be here in April. At the end of the day, it's going to look a little something like this:

We are excited to take any step in getting our living room in respectable shape. I think designing the living room is probably one of the most important rooms to take your time with. I mean think about it. Where do you spend the most time in your home? We are mostly in three rooms: Bedroom, Kitchen, or Living Room. All three of these rooms are "unfinished" to us. We have dedicated our time to the bedroom and living room for now, and when we work up the courage - we are hitting that kitchen. Maybe even smack it around a bit too. Ohhh that kitchen. It's a bad one. At least for now we have some curtains. In one room.

Know of any unique ideas to cover up your windows for the winter? Summer tricks of the trade? Do share. We have a lot of window dressing to, errrr, address.
