To Paint is to DIY + Giveaway!
***This giveaway is now closed!***
Lovelies! How good to see you! Welcome to day #2 of our top five favorites when it comes to making our/your house a home, the DIY way! We use to not like to paint. It was a long and painful process. Then after a few rooms we started to figure out tricks and tools to make it go quicker. Things to make it look better. Things to not ruin everything surrounding us. Eventually we got a little adventurous and even started to stencil full walls.
So let's talk what makes a good paint job. We never used a drop cloth. Ever. Until I noticed tiny little paint dots on our 80+ year old floors. They were a killer to "pick" off the floor. Enter the canvas drop cloth. I love canvas so much, I almost want to make curtains out of them. Purdy is our brush of choice because you never get any strays with them and they tend to last longer than other brands we have tried. As you probably already know we love our Scotch 3M tape, I almost feels it's part of the decor sometimes. If you peel it just before the paint dries, you get a perfect line every time! Now for the major moments, Shur-Line makes awesome rollers. Remember this mess? I think we bought every Shur-Line roller and Scotch Blue at True Value.
We thought for day #2 of our awesome giveaway week courtesy of Stack Exchange, we would doll out a sweet painting kit to a lucky reader! Everything you need but the paint to get your next room done line a pro! How do you get a smooth finish when painting trim? Click here to see what's a buzz about this question and other about painting perfect rooms and DIY in general.

I love to paint but ceilings just kill me!
I hate how messy painting is. I always end up getting it all over myself and spend so much time cleaning brushes, cleaning spilled paint, etc.
i hate cutting in, it takes so much time.
Oops! Forgot to leave an e-mail address. (I posted about the messy painting)
definitely trying to clean the paint out of my rollers!
When we paint....my husband gets to do all the rolling and I wind up doing all the cutting in and trim work.... I really do not like the trim work & cutting in.... but someone's gotta do!!
I do not like all the prep work or any of the clean up
I hate cleaning out the brushes when you are done painting!

Cutting in! Absolute worst part of painting!
following on Twitter!
What I dislike the most about painting is... I've never done it! Only lived in rentals, so I've never painted a wall, but I'd really love to learn how and have the gear to do it right :-)
I hate cutting in along the ceiling, I always get paint on my ceilings even with tape I have just learned I have to have some white ceiling paint on hand whenever I decide to paint!
Now following stackdiy on twitter!
I despise prep work
again with the cleanup! especially oil-based primer, i don't mind the latex paints as much, but that mineral spirit/pain thinner stuff is the worst. BUT this kit looks amaaaaazing! :o)
I hate the time it takes from start to finish.
I dislike the clean up! Really that's the only part that's a killer for me, otherwise I am in my happy place when painting. :)
And I am following @stackeddiy on twitter. @alwaysnwonder
I can't stand trimming around the ceiling... inevitably paint always gets up there! No matter how hard I try... :(
Then cleaning up is the worst!!!
Probably rolling because I always seem to leave drips. I have a line of drips along the bottom of my dining room wall because we put it on too heavy...total bummer.
I just get bored and distracted after a while
