I have been on a major hunt for bedroom inspirations, and boy, oh boy, did I hit the mother load. We want a warm, yet crisp feeling in our oversized master bedroom. We have challenges ahead of us which include the debate of a run, or no rug. Our puppies sleep with us every night, and let's just say they have a bladder issue in the middle of the night.
The bedroom is so important to us to. Living in Brooklyn, we had tiny shoe box like bedrooms. I don't think we ever had a closet in the room. Ya know, in fact, we haven't. Now we have two rather large ones. And a bathroom. And so much space, we don't know where to start. Check Out our current state.
Doesn't quite give you the same feelings those first photos did, eh? We are working on it. We are just re-teaching ourselves how to use space. Mind you the photos above are 1/3 of our room. The only part of the room we use. So let's get down to business and talk about the inspiration photos. I am really drawn to the canopy bed with the green stripes. I think it's a passive way to take up some space in the room. I mean a bed is going to be big, whats a few more inches of fabric? Each of these rooms are very mild in color and holds a lot of furniture without feeling cluttered. The rugs add such a softness to the rooms too. I love a cozy plave to fall asleep in.
What have you done to make your room feel more cosy and personal? What kind of bed to you pick and why?
We have been playing around with paint colors and defining a style and trying to turn those pretty pictures in our heads into a plan. It's hard to decide "what" we are. Our house is old and strong. We are young and artsy. Needless to say we are on a mission to find a happy medium. As I put together inspirations, and peruse through catalogues and websites I noticed I use animals a lot in the house. I am not talking zebra print rugs or leopard print pillows, actual animals. I tend to lean more towards the humor of nature, while Joey leans in a humor-mod way. It's interesting to put ideas down in once place and start to see a consistency.
Today I came across a website I haven't seen before; www.ballarddesigns.com. I didn't fall in love with EVERYTHING, but my interest was piqued on a few items. The prices aren't awful and they have a very good selection of what they carry. You can get wallpaper, rugs, lighting, bed frames, and fabric all from one site, and you can design a full room off there mix and match items. Like i mentioned, it was a decent find. Not 100% our style, but found some good stuff! Where do you find uniques pieces for your home? Do you make stuff yourself? Please share!
