Another Day, Another Color Story.....

So yea. The guest room....not so much. The fabric I have been waiting on, well, is sold out. If I didn't check I would be waiting a long time. So, I decided to take the hint from the universe and relook at what we were working with and make sure I was making the right decisions.

It's miles away from the first mood board, back in the day.

And then I changed my mind. Yet again. Welcome, new color story.

Also, new pattern story. See, I love chevron. I loved it before I even knew it was called chevron. I want to put chevron all over my house. I want blankets. I want to paint it on my floors and dress my curtains in it. But I hate that it's so right now and it's also so last week. You know what I mean? I feel trendy and because it's oversaturated, I am beginning to hate it in my house. I tend to like unpopular things. And the cycle is usually; I like it, and then it's everywhere and I hate it. Except for vegetarianism and veganism. That wound up being very convenient. So I went backwards and made some new decisions.

The yellow and white is Premier Prints Chipper Slub Corn Yellow and the flower print is Amy Butler Lotus Wall Flower Cherry. The super deep teal behind it is our paint from True Value, Natural River Bed. I am happy about them all hanging out and throwing a color party in my guest room. I was getting a bid bored with the spa feeling going on around the rest of the house.

With new changes in textiles comes a little bit of editing. For example the rug (#7) is going to be saved for something else, and the West Elm rug (andalusia) from the kids room is going to takes it's place. Have I ever mentioned how much I love shopping my own home?

The yellow and white fabric will grace the built ins Joey made, while the flower fabric will power the windows.

Can you see it coming together? I needed to brighten her up a bit and I am really excited about the edits. No more chevron, but total introduction of some fun patterns. Maybe when the trend blows over me and 'ol Chev can take it slow. Go out on a date or two and see how it feels.

Guestroom Moodboard Time!

This weeks giveaway ends tomorrow! Get it while the gettins' good!

Happy Monday friends! How did your weekend treat you? Was your Easter fun? We did a little housework and spent time with family. A lovely weekend to say the least. This is the final moodboard for our guest room! We are super excited to be moving forward with some of our ideas! Here's the plan:

The room looks something like this now. Joey made some built-in's when our ikea armoires went through some water damage (we'll get to that in another post), and we have a nice cozy, hand-me-down bed.

1. We love the For Like Ever piece. It's been in hiding for a while, but we recently framed it with an Ikea frame. It looks fab and makes us smile.

2. We also love this idea of a suitcase dresser! Can't wait to make this!

3. We got the owl lamp from Urban Outfitters and the flower pendant is from Pottery Barn for $199

4. These curtains are from Anthropologie, and are just so sweet.

5. We got the Let's Go Anywhere from Etsy a while back, and finally framed her too.

6. Inside the handmade armoire, there will be a pop of Chevron with paint from True Value

7. Believe it or not, this rug was found on overstock.com (the second runner up below, is from Urban Outfitters. It's in competition with the master bedroom....)

8. We got this duvet at Anthropologie, but may swap it out for a Dwell Studio one.

So this room is looking like the most colorful room by far! We have a lot of neutrals going on, so we welcome the crafty colorful feel with open arms! We are looking for guest room ideas, feel free to share a link in the comment section!

Master Bedroom Moodboard: Doppelganger Edition

***This Give Away Is Now Closed! A Winner Has Been Selected! Thanks for checking out Mirrormate.com!***

Good mornin'! Have you checked out our $200 give away going on right now? The lovely people over at Mirror Mate are sponsoring this give away and it's only running a week, so get it while the gettin's good!

When we stared piecing together our bedroom, aka the main event these days, we had a color scheme in mind, but no really a direction. We pieced together a bunch of moodboard, so we thought we would share what "could have been".

The obvious difference is the pops of pink and the more modern vibe kicking in. We loved how crisp and chic it felt, but it would just be a little weird in our 1930 home, plus the rest of our home is decorated a little more...well...older. I couldn't help but squeeze in a little ethnic flair into our in-progress bedroom. So here is doppelganger #1.

sources: 1.) chair 2.) sheets 3.) pouf 4.) side table 5.) curtains 6.) mirror 7.) side table 8.) bed 9.) rug
