MirrorMate.com Winner + Book Club Much?

We are super stoked to announce our winner for the MirrorMate.com giveaway. Congrats to you Miss Laura! Let us know how your mirror turns out, we would love to know!

Stay tuned, we have another giveaway starting this week. We are pretty darn sure you will be drooling over the one of a kind giveaway, exclusive to Make a House a Home!

In other news, it was payday today, so a little shopidy shopping is happening over her at MAHAH. I was going through my Amazon.com wish list, and kinda giggled when I noticed this.

I am very excited to see these two very talented ladies release both these books. I will be sure to report back with shiny nuggets when I am finished reading these bad boys. I can only imagine the jewels inside.

How great is this? Christiane Lemieux, founder of DwellStudio releases, Undecorate: The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design at about the same time Holly Becker, editor of Decor8Blog.com, is about to release Decorate: 1,000 Design Ideas for Every Room in Your Home. Um....HELLO Summer reading list!

Some great "reading" material to show up at our door this week has been the Restoration Hardware Source Book, and the 2011 Dedon Collection. Two of my faves for sure. You can check out a digital copy of Restoration Hardwares Source Book by clicking the image below.

The Dedon Catalog makes me dream of sunny days and outdoor living. If you haven't checked out their offerings, it's worth a shot, just to look at the lovely pictures for inspiration alone. Can I have one of these, please?

Speaking of reading material, I just finished The Help, and have been scouting out something new to read. Nothing too heavy, nothing intense or scary. Something fiction. Any suggestions?

Just so you know, the Amazon links above are affiliate links. Thanks for clickin'!

Easy Mirror Update + GIVEAWAY TIME!

*****Give-Away Alert! Keep reading to see how to enter to win $200 to spend at Mirror Mate!*****

Oh happy day lovlies! How was your weekend? Did the sun shine in your parts? We did a little Spring clean touching up, and had a little chilly BBQ and officially celebrated our two happy years of marriage. It was a nice weekend all around. We also snuck in a little project, with little time available- and it had big impact!

Our My closet is rather huge. We have three closets in our master bedroom, and to be honest, it's what sold the house. If you aren't familiar with homes in the northeast, that are over fifty years old, they rarely have adequate closet space. This house had beyond adequate closet space. Sold!

So this nursery-turned-closet had a rather large full length mirror, but it was pretty bland. It needed some....umph. So see what we did about it:

So this is our closet, which I can't complain about. With the exception of that boring mirror, you won't hear a peep of unhappiness out of me. We thought about replacing the whole thing, until we looked into the cost. Eesh. It was mighty expensive to get a custom size, with a frame we liked. We thought we were stuck, until we found Mirror Mate. We checked out the options and found one that fit in exactly with our Neutral-Moroccan-British-Cowboy themed bedroom build. Sold! Look how easy breasy it was to finish:

Read the instructions! Follow the instructions! They are simple to follow, and minus the hour wait time for the glue to dry, you'll be done in less than a half hour, no joke! Joey was super happy how easy the instructions were.

Not only are the instructions brief, the tools are minimal, and easy to use.

The most complicated part was folding these cardboard corners. Can you tell me love Mirror Mate? We are already scoping out where else we can use another one of these bad boys.

Use the tools to connect the corners after you use the wood glue. Those white strips (you'll see what they are for very soon) come pre-attached.

Place it off to the side, and wait an hour. The hardest part. Seriously.

We lined up the mirror, and used a level to see what it would look like.

Place the corners, once you get it perfect, then take the frame away.

Now the fun part! Peel the backing of the strip away. Then stick it on the mirror, keeping it aligned with the corners you previously placed.

This is us impressed how easy and quick the process was.

Ta Da! Isn't she perdy?!

I love to Shop + Winner for the Stencil Giveaway

"Thank you" to everyone who entered our awesome give away from Cutting Edge Stencils! We selected a winner, and that winner is Tashma! She selected the Dahlia Allover Stencil - be sure to send us photos of what you did what that beautiful stencil! If you didn't win this give away, don't fear dear friend, we will have plenty more to come. And if you totally fell in love with stencils like we did, keep checking back at MAHAH - we are going to have more stencil fun in our (near) future!

This weekend was kinda weird, gloomy, gray one. Joey needed some new sneakers, so we went to the mall, something we rarely do. I hate going out in the rain. I hate the parking garage at the mall. I hate the crowds. However, I love to shop. I love it so much, I went with Joey to the mall to pick out some sneaker despite my eternal distain for all the things listed above.

We didn't find any sneakers, but we did find this...

It's not that we "found" it this weekend, it's that it found us. You may remember us drooling over the Kensington couch over at Restoration Hardware. It's on our 2011 to-do list. Well, this here table is the table that just so happens to be a perfect match for the 118" couch. This here table is 71". This here table will inspire us to buy that couch that makes us happy. This here table was on sale for $800 reduces from $1,900. This makes us happy, very happy! I will stop saying "this here" now. Promise.

We didn't expect to buy a coffee table this weekend. After all we just needed sneakers. And we just bought this....

It's a console table from Timothy Oulton, ya know the guy who designs a bunch of stuff for Restoration Hardware. The guy I am obsessed with. The guy who make furniture both Joey and I like. Love that guy. I found him at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC, on the second floor where he took out two spots to showcase his work.

Yea, we thought about buying that Union Jack couch, many many times. We decided however to go with that exact couch, just in a nice cigar leather. More dog/kid/us proof. Boy, I love to shop for home decor. It really makes me happy. But now our shopping has put us in a pickle. We are having another Joey vs. Lana moment.

Joey wants to add these chairs to the brown leather sofa + new balustrade salvage wood coffee table steal:

Right now we have these bad boys, which are just too oversized with the new couch....

So the question is this. These new chairs Joey wants - too manly? I am scared of our living room turning into a man cave. Right now I do not have a better suggestion to battle against these really cool airplane themed chairs, but I do think it's going to bring this room to the point of 100% masculine. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Joey won the chandelier battle, help me with this one ladies!
